The CSRS is celebrating its 75th anniversary with an inter-institutional sports day
Abidjan, 29 September 2026 (AIP) – The Centre for Research and Scientific Studies (Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d’Ivoire, CSRS) celebrated its 75th anniversary with an inter-institutional sports day held at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny University stadium in Cocody, Abidjan, on Saturday 26 September 2026.
The event brought together key organisations from the Ivorian academic and scientific community, notably Nangui Abrogoua University (UNA), the Virtual University of Côte d’Ivoire, the National Centre for Agricultural Research (CNRA), the Pasteur Institute, the General Confederation of Enterprises of Côte d’Ivoire (CGECI) and the company Kestrel.
The Director-General of the CSRS, Jérémie Zoueu, paid tribute to the Centre’s pioneers from 1949 and 1951, recalling that its foundations had been laid precisely on friendships and personal encounters.
“As sport is the catalyst for this friendship and these encounters, we hope that these few hours spent together will lead to institutional partnerships, scientific projects and lasting relationships,” he emphasised, after thanking the President of the UFHB, Prof. Ballo Zié, for providing the venue.
The other speakers highlighted the importance of collaborative research in the interests of food security, public health and informing public policy decisions.
The sports day featured games, a sprint race and both a women’s and a men’s football match.
