On the afternoon of Wednesday January 22, 2025, the CSRS vibrated to the rhythm of the ceremony paying tribute to a scientific visionary, Prof. Marcel TANNER. The ceremony, initiated by CSRS CEO, Prof. Inza Koné, took place immediately after the Board of Directors meeting.  In addition to the members of the Board, it brought together a wide range of personalities in Room NB: Prof. Bonfoh Bassirou, Director of the Africa One Program and former Director of CSRS, eminent CSRS researchers, heads of departments and cells, employees and guests who had the privilege of benefiting from his knowledge.

This solemn occasion was an opportunity to look back on the milestones of his career, to underline the scope of his achievements and to celebrate this great man for his good and loyal service to the world scientific community.

At the heart of the ceremony, a number of speakers took the floor to recount anecdotes and testimonials in honor of Prof. Marcel TANNER. All echoed the same idea: a clear vision, remarkable humility and passion, hard work and a willingness to share his knowledge with all, which paved the way for several generations of researchers.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of paintings and gifts to Prof. Marcel Tanner and two other outgoing board members (Profs. Youssouf Sidimé and Tano Yao). The presentations were full of emotion, but above all a token of recognition for their exceptional service, commitment, expertise and invaluable contributions to the development and influence of the CSRS.
