Professor Arsène Kobéa, Director of Cabinet, representing the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, laid the foundation stone for the CSRS laboratories in Adiopodoumé on Monday 05 August 2024.

This historic event for the CSRS took place in the presence of a number of important personalities: the Director General of the CSRS, Prof. Inza Koné, Prof. Juerg Utzinger, Delegate Representative of the SEFRI, Vice-Chairman of the CSRS Board of Directors, Chairman of the R. Geigy Foundation, Director of the Swiss TPH, and the Director of the Swiss TPH. Geigy Foundation, Director of Swiss TPH, Prof. Marcel Tanner, President of the Swiss Academies of Science (online), Dr. Daniel Paris, Head of Department Medicine/Swiss TPH, CSRS Managing Director, Dr. Daouda Dao, CSRS DRD, Prof. Koudou, CSRS DAF, Ms. Kadhy Sall, prof. Véronique Yoboué, Chairman of the Board/CSRS, Prof. Yaya Sangaré, SE/FONSTI, Dr. Vanessa Lengue -Novartis, directors and representatives of partner institutions, as well as religious and traditional leaders, researchers and CSRS employees. 


This major construction project, financed by the Swiss TPH, is designed to boost competitiveness and improve the quality of research, training and services in Côte d'Ivoire and the sub-region.

As a prelude to the laying of the foundation stone, our illustrious guests visited the existing insectarium and laboratories.


Covering an area of around 400 m², the building will comprise 08 specialized laboratories (Insecticide Testing, Molecular Biology, Bacteriology, Genomics Laboratory, Serology Laboratory, Parasitology Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory, Non-Food Chemistry Laboratory), with work scheduled to take 07 months.

With this major move, the CSRS, as a leading research institution, will strengthen its role in the country's scientific and technological development, contributing to advances in the fields of public health, agriculture and biodiversity. The projects to be carried out in the new laboratories will enable the development of new diagnostic tests, making CSRS a benchmark in the sub-region and internationally.
