Professor Inza Koné, Director General of the Swiss Center for Scientific Research in Côte d'Ivoire, primatologist, and professor of zoology and animal biology at the Faculty of Biosciences, Félix HOUPHOUËT-BOIGNY University, Abidjan-Cocody, received the National Award of Excellence Trophy for Best Teacher-Researcher in Côte d'Ivoire, an honorary diploma signed by the Head of State, and a check for ten (10) million CFA francs.

This took place during the formal ceremony for the 2025 National Excellence Awards, which was held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Presidential Palace.

The ceremony was presided over by the President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, H.E. Mr. Alassane Ouattara. At his side were the First Lady, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, the Prime Minister, Mr. Beugré Mambé, presidents of institutions, members of the government and the diplomatic corps, as well as senior military officials and numerous guests.


Reasons for selection


Professor Inza Koné, an emeritus researcher and innovative educator, has distinguished himself through his teaching achievements, the quantity and quality of his scientific publications, the promotion of his research findings, his numerous national and international awards, and above all through the quality and concrete impact of his work, particularly in the fields of biology and primate conservation.



✅ As a result of his research, the Tanoé Ehy Marsh Forest (South Comoé) was classified as a Voluntary Nature Reserve in 2021, becoming the largest in the country, with more than 36,000 plants reintroduced over 2,000 hectares, helping to preserve a vital ecosystem.


✅ His work at Taï National Park has refined conservation strategies for iconic species such as primates and pygmy hippopotamuses.


✅ A pioneer, he was quick to integrate modern communication tools into higher education, which has earned him regular requests from national and international institutions.


✅ Professor Inza KONÉ has supervised 13 doctoral theses, authored 122 publications in prestigious journals such as Nature, and chaired several commissions of the International Union for Conservation of Nature(UICN).


✅ Winner of 13 national and international awards, Professor Inza KONE embodies excellence and contributes to our country's academic reputation.
